This Privacy Policy explains how TyreFinder handles the information you share when you use this website — in plain terms, with the specifics of what we actually run.
TyreFinder ("we", "us") is a tyre sourcing desk operated from South Africa. We are the responsible party for personal information collected through this website under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). You can reach us through the contact form.
When you submit a sourcing enquiry or list stock, we collect the details you provide: your name, company, email address, phone number, and the tyre requirement or stock you describe. If you email us, we keep the correspondence. We do not collect payment details through this website, and there is no user account or login on the public site.
Separately from anything you submit, we collect basic usage data when you browse the site — see Cookies and analytics below.
The box on our home page lets you describe the tyres you need in your own words. While you type, the page checks the text against our public catalogue to show you matching stock. That check runs in your browser: nothing you type leaves your device until you press send.
When you press send, your message goes to our sourcing system, hosted with Cloudflare. When our AI assistant is switched on, the conversation is also passed to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude model, which drafts the reply and a proposed enquiry for you to review. Anthropic processes it as our service provider under its API terms and does not use it to train its models. The assistant can see only our public catalogue — the same sizes, brands and patterns you can browse here. It has no access to supplier identities, prices or stock quantities, it cannot send email, and it cannot create anything: an enquiry is created only when you add your name and email and press Send enquiry yourself. From that point it is handled exactly like an enquiry from our contact form.
We do not store the conversation unless you send the enquiry. To prevent abuse we keep a short-lived count of messages per connection (your IP address) and a record of how much the assistant is used — message sizes and cost, not what was said. If one of our safety checks withholds a reply, we log that it happened. Ask TyreFinder sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, source or place the stock you asked about, and manage the resulting commercial process — on the lawful bases of performing the steps you have requested and our legitimate interest in running a sourcing business. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Enquiries and stock submissions are stored in our own database, hosted with Cloudflare (which also serves this website and provides its security layer — Cloudflare may process technical data such as your IP address in server and security logs). Notification emails are delivered through Resend, our email provider. When our AI assistant is switched on, the text of an Ask TyreFinder conversation is processed by Anthropic as described above. The page fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font files load. Website usage is measured by Google Analytics and by Cloudflare Web Analytics, both described under Cookies and analytics below. These providers process data on our behalf and may do so on servers outside South Africa; we choose providers that commit to appropriate data-protection safeguards.
Access to stored enquiries and submissions is restricted to the TyreFinder team. If you list stock with us, your identity and stock details are treated as confidential and are never published or shared without your permission.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how this website is used — which pages people visit, how they found us, and whether an enquiry was completed. It records technical information such as your device, browser, referring site and approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we have switched off Google’s advertising and personalisation signals, so this data is never used to build advertising audiences. We set no advertising cookies at all.
We ask first, wherever you are. On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies, and until you accept nothing is stored on your device — Google’s consent mode holds the measurement cookies back. If you decline, the analytics script is not loaded on your next visit at all. Only if you accept do we store the first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_*, which hold a randomly generated identifier and let us tell a returning visitor from a new one. We apply this one rule to every visitor rather than only to those whose law demands it.
You can change your mind whenever you like — . It takes effect immediately and lasts on this browser. Turning analytics off changes nothing about how the site works: nothing you need is behind it. You can also opt out independently of us with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies or analytics scripts in your browser or with a tracker-blocking extension.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. It is deliberately a different kind of tool: it sets no cookies, stores nothing at all on your device, and does not attempt to identify or fingerprint you or follow you to other websites. It records the page you viewed, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, your country, and how fast the page loaded. Because nothing is stored on your device, it is not covered by the choice above and the banner does not switch it off — we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. If you would prefer not to be counted at all, a tracker-blocking extension will block it as it does any other measurement script.
Cloudflare may also set strictly-necessary security cookies to protect the site from abuse.
We keep enquiry and stock information for as long as it stays relevant to an active or potential sourcing relationship, and for any period the law requires us to retain business records. You can ask us to delete it sooner (see below).
Under POPIA you may ask us at any time to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to access it, to correct it, or to delete it, and you may object to our processing of it. Use the contact form and we will respond. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the South African Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). If you are in the EEA or UK, we honour the equivalent rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its date. This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
